I am new to the projector market, as my home theatre interest was spurred by a Black Friday Yamaha/JBL 6.1 Setup I purchased and now I am looking at a better monitor. Right now I am using an old 19" Zenith TV that has nothing more than composite input...
This brings me to a projector, I have pretty much decided on either the Sony VPL-DS100 or the Infocus X2 (sorry, I can't post links yet...but I am looking on newegg.com)
I like the lower price of the Sony, but the Infocus seems to look like the better bet for my uses (Only home theatre). I like the DVI on the X2 as well as the brightness and rated bulb life, and there are no features of the Sony that stick out as better. Does the cost justify getting the X2? I've read many positive things about the X2, and some about the Sony (less popular unit). I like the idea of having a more common unit so finding a replacement bulb or service would be easier. One other question I have is that I was wondering if there is any real picture quality difference between an LCD and a DLP projector. (I understand the differences and how each work, but I have not seen them side by side)
Price is definatly an object for me, but I also want what would be best for me.
One other question on the side, if I would like to hook my computer and a DVD (progressive scan) into any projector, could a computer's signal go through component cables and still come out cleanly? (I would like to plug both into my reciever, a fairly low end one without DVI or HDMI, so I can easily switch between the two. I would then have an adapter on the end that goes from component to DVI/D-Sub (depending on unit)
Thanks Alot!
