HI,


I have a Sony VPL-VW80 >> Carada 112" 2.35:1 screen.


Just did initial set up very late last night.


Even though I have the 16:9 image dead centre when I zoom the image to fill the 2:35:1 screen the image is way off and I have to use lens shift to align the image.


Anyone know why?

I thought you would simply have to zoom the image and it would expand proportionally and fill the screen?

Maybe you should center your 2.35:1 image, then live with any position shift when viewing 16:9 content. If you are having to shift horizontally, I suspect your projector lens isn't located at the center of your screen. If you have to shift vertically, then it's probably because the projector isn't centered vertically on the screen (most aren't).


That is one advantage to using a lens -- (or the shrink method) -- no shift required for different aspect ratios.

HT projector's optic designs date back to data grades and table top mounting. They were never intended to this use.
