Just received my DVDO HDMI 2.0 Test signal generator

I can confirm all (4) HDMI inputs on my XBR-65X850A work at 3840x2160 24/25/30 & 60Hz

Neat...My 850a gets installed tomorrow...Friday. However it will not be in a real dedicated HT room. I have a dedicated HT room though but with a 1080p 3D projector, 8 seats tiers seating and all. My 850a will be in the family room to watch tv movies, sports, news and such...with a Sonos sound bar and sub...LOL However I got a good deal on the 850a and it should last me well into the future. Maybe in a year or so I will move it to the bedroom which actually has a killer 7.2 system....watching movies in bed is comfy! ;-)
Got my 850A installed last week by BB. How do I know if my 850A is HDMI 2.0 & HDCP 2.2 ready on the HDMI 4 input? I don't see any build date on the box. Is there a way to guess the build date by serial number or were all 850A's had HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 on HDMI 4 input from get go?

Hello, from what I can tell..

Your display is HDMI 2.0 ready if you can use a Sony 4K Player on input 4

This would be the case on all 4 inputs.

Input 4 is "reserved" by and for Sony's proprietary (pre-HDMI2.2) HDCP scheme.

The other 3 HDMI inputs will also work at 3840x2160 60,50 or 30 hz

4120x2160 will only work at 24hz

The way I know this becasue I do AV for a living and own the only piece of HDMI 2.0 capable test gear

You can also use a Sony 4K camera as a 60Hz source but thats $5000 vs $1300 for the TPG $k generator.

My serial number is S01-6008xxx-E (the x's are numbers)

Hope this helps.

I don't have Sony media player. I am waiting for FMP-X10 player. My serial number is S01-7806271-H which seems like a later build therefore I am assuming it's HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 ready on input 4.

I think you have nothing to worry about Sir

I too am waiting for the 2nd gen player as well to replace my non h265 1st gen player

Enjoy your new set!
This is good news. I just got the 55x850a with a build date of Mar 2014. It took an update, so I will assume that once the time is ready I should be able to feed it 4K/60Hz. My HTPC only supports 30hz at this resolution.
One question in case you know the answer to this, I have a Sony STR-DN1040 AVR that has the latest firmware giving it HDMI 2.0 compatible ports, however if this is plugged into HDMI port 3 of the TV (HDCP 2.2 I think?) can the AVR be fed a HDMI 2.0 / HDCP 2.2 signal to any of its 8 HDMI inputs and the TV will accept this? (here I am thinking that in the future cable or satellite may bring out devices that require HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.
Did the upgrade include HDCP 2.2? I dont think HDMI 2.0 and it are mutually inclusive. Assuming that the reveiver supports both then yes you can assume that you can connect to any HDMI port on the receiver and exchange both protocols to the TV. You will want to use HDMI 4 on the TV though.

Sorry getting back to this so late. I have a Sony 850a and am about to get an Oppo 203. Would there be any advantage to having the 203 on HDMI 4 or HDMI 1?

Only HDMI4 supports HDCP 2.2

THanks! So I might as well make HDMI 4 my default for everything coming out of my prepro. I'll see if my old sony media 4k device (I never use) can route through my new prepro.

That's what I do with my Pioneer. Haven't had any issues.

OK - I just got a firmware update this morning on the TV. I'm not sure if it was this way before or not but when the TV is set for HDMI 4 it automatically pulls up the sen menu. I'd like to disable this but am not sure how. This is only the case if the Sony FMP X1 has power.
