I've pretty much determined to get a sony for my 34" 16:9 HDTV.

I'm now confused about Wega (KV34Hs510) or the XBR (xbr 800 or xbr 910)

The dimensions listed on the Sony Website for the XBR 910 cannot be correct (43x33x26) (300lbs). That cannot be right. I've asked Sony about it but they said I should ask a local Authorized dealer (some help)

Anyway, I've seen the picture on the XBR and the 510 and in the store they look the same (to me anyway). Why not get the 510 and save a few hundred bucks?

Also, does anyone have an XBR they can measure for me?

Thanks,

HZ:eek:

THe big dirrence is that the XBR910 has the 'Super Fine Pitch' tube ... you get 1400 vertical lines instead of the approx. 850 on the HS510 (or XBR800).

The HS510s and XBR800s are essentially the same. A nice benefit of the XBRs is that they come with a full 2 year warranty (parts and labor). The HS510s have a more limited warranty.

You're damn right it's a monster. But I still think that the dimensions and weights are wrong on the Sony Website. How can the hs510 weigh a little under 200 lbs and the xbr 300? Something ain't right.

Anyway, I might just go with the 510 since I like to save a few bucks am dealing with limited space.

Yeah I've noticed the specs for the XBR910 to be wrong on several sites and they seem to be using the 40xbr numbers.

The XBR910 is basically the size of the 510 and weighs roughly 200 pounds.

BTW if your viewing distance is not that far I'd spring for the XBR910 It costs more but it's worth it if you are sitting pretty close.

And lastely the XBR910 is a touch over 39" wide and a touch under 24"

deep. Update here is the dimensions off of Abt's site:

Dimensions (wxhxd): 39 1/8" x 25 5/8"x 23 7/8"

looks like my tape measure is right :p

Hangzen,

If you can swing the few extra hundred bucks, I'd definitely say get the XBR910. The 910 is the replacement/upgrade from the older 2002/2003.5 XBR800's. The 910 has a one-of-kind Super Fine Pitch Tube that is capable of a much higher resolution, should HD ever live up to its maximum potential. There is absolutely no other Tube mfg. for consumers that has this higher resolution capabilty. The 510's have the older Tube that was in the XBR800. Hope this helps.
