I plan to us my PC only to foward a signal via HDMI.

How do various music/video sound sources on a PC make it to the hdmi out? Put a hd blue ray disk in my pc. What is the path to the hdmi port. Does it have to go through the sound chip for 7.1 conversion and then onto the AVR for further decoding?
Does the sound chip on the mother board influence sound for other pc sources ie Itune or windows media player through hdmi?
Does an audio chip i.e. realtek alc1150 matter for a signal sent via hdmi on the pc to an avr?
