Hi guys.
So ... initially purchased a HTIB (Onkyo HT-S650) ...

then my friend gave me his Yamaha RX-V467

Here is my problem ......... and I had this even before I changed receivers.
The sound effects are much, much louder than the speaking voice. As soon as there is shooting or explosions, I have to lower the volume ASAP.
To calibrate the sound, I used the automatic sound adjustment that comes with the receiver (the little microphone). Unlike original receiver, this one does not let me adjust volume of each speaker ..... like for example I could lower the left and right speakers and increase volume of a center channel.
what do I do??? How do I make this thing stop waking up the neighbors??? I know that if this receiver had a night mode option, that could have helped. BUT it doesn't.
thank you.
P.S. If I find no solution to this problem, I'd have to fork over $1,200 for a new home theater that I really don't want to do.
P.S.S. Interesting thing is when I watch regular TV shows, reality shows, etc, I don't notice too big of a problem. It's only movies over blu-ray or Micca USB player.
