I just got my AVR 254 and hooked it up. I have the Polk RM6750 5.1 speakers. I observe that to get decent volume while watching DVD or HD cable TV, I need to keep the volume level at around -30 db or (around 55 in the 0 - 100 scale). And this is if i want to hear normal sound that is NOT AT ALL loud enough to wake up anyone sleeping in the next room! I was expecting that 254 would be more loud. I havent jacked up the volume to the max and I dont know how much it could get to. But I would assume it is proportionate. Was I having too much expectation? Everything is factory default and I havent played with any setting at all.

But I have to say I am impressed with the quality!!!

you do need to tweek some of the setings to get the best sound

but your room is diffrent so play around with it

i love it better than any brand in its price range

at night i run my 354 at -50 to -45dbm. If you have not pushed the receiver im not sure what the problem is or what you asking? Run the auto tuner it will make a difference.

20dbm nice. i start hurting my ears at around 10dbm.
