Hi,

couple questions,I have done reading up on using sound level meter for calibrating my speakers and just need to tick the box if this unit will do the job, link http://www.ebay.com....984.m1438.l2649 ..

Also as I have ceiling speakers as my surrounds would I put the meter mic straight up in my seating position or leave it at the 45 deg angle facing the fronts, from what I have been reading there are two alternatives, angle forward or straight up.

I am also after a calibration dvd ( blu ray) one that has test tones etc on it,I have searched all my local shops to no avail and can not seem to find one which will suit region B,any suggestions on where I could locate one,my blu ray player is not region free.

One other question will I have to calibrate the meter when it arrives.

Thank you.

Your ebay link appears to be broken. It gets my browser back to your post!

If I was going to pick a SPL meter off ebay, I'd pick this one:

I also agree with post 2 on this thread.

Thanks dragonfyr,

I did go ahead and buy it,only $25.00 delivered, just one thing, point the mic up or point it at 45 degree angle allowing I have ceiling speakers as my surrounds.

I would make the assumption that as my two recliners(main listening position) is about a foot off the rear wall I would leave them as is and mount the sound level meter on the tripod primarily in my sweet spot,so basically both myself and the lady gets the basic full benefit of the speakers, as I have got them toed in to my listening advantage and she has at last twigged on about it.

Thank you for you replies,

not sure if this link will work for sound meter http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-new-Portable-Digital-Sound-Level-Noise-Decibel-Pressure-Meter-Tester-/300693872015?pt=AU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment&hash=item4602c05d8f

I understand about buying up on lots dedicated stuff, only need to take a look at my fishing gear for that

I will look into what you have both advised and do some more homework.

Thank you again.

Looks like a heck of a deal. That particular seller does not ship to the US but I found one that does (in the US) and bought one!

SPL Meter should arrive Monday,to get the distance of the speakers to my listening position would I:

Run the YPAO first to get my distance, then use the SPL meter.

Physically measure my distances and set them manually, then run the SPL.

Just run the SPL and because each speaker is set to the same Db the variation in each individual speaker settings(volume wise) would compensate for my distance.

Thank you.
