Sound not syncing with picture on screen

Over the last couple of weeks the wife and I have watched a few movies on the new system since it is finally up and running. She has commented a few times that the voices don't match the mouth of the person on the screen. This has happened both with broadcast tv and dvd's. After she mentioned it last night I really watched for it. There might be some slight difference that is almost noticable.

What would this be a result of? I am running a Pioneer Elite reciever that has the auto MCAA. Would having this set from one listening position result in a slight shift if you were to sit a few feet from the "sweet spot"

I really want to tell her that she is going crazy.

Is the audio ahead of the picture? If so, you may have an audio delay or lip-synch feature in your receiver's set up menu that can compensate.

The digital processing in some TV's can cause this lag.

I agree. It sounds like you are upconverting the video which does take time. Most av receivers nowadays have the capability to delay the audio to sync with the video.

You probably owe your wife an apology ;)

It is definately ahead of the picture. It seems to be the worst on my Direct TV input. What is wierd is during broadcast the audio is off, but during the commercials it is dead on.

I'll check my settings to see if there is a delay or sync feature.

thanks

Tim - if your problem is with Direct tv, this is a known problem with the H20 receiver. Try changing channels then change it back and see what happens.
