I currently have an audigy 2. I would like to add another sound card for music since the audigy upsamples while keeping the audigy in my computer for gaming. I would only be using it with SPDIF to my Yamaha 1400 receiver with relatively high end speakers. What is the cheapest sound card that will give me the best possible music?

I use an Audiophile 2496 alongside an Audigy. I think it's a good combination. I use the only the analog outs on the Audigy but I use both digital and analog on the AP2496. The analog on the AP2496 is noticably better than the analog on the Audigy. For 2-channel, the AP2496 is also better than digital with my HK AVR8000 receiver. I suggest connecting the analog outs of whatever card you get for 2-channel audio.
