Source for Dark Black Speaker Fabric

644 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Steve13
I need to install a speaker fabric insert beneath my Stewart Firehawk screen. The black fabrics I have seen from JoAnn Fabrics look gray compared to the screen's frame. Could someone recommend a good speaker fabric (center and subs will go behind this) that would more closely match the Stewart blacks and where I can purchase it? Thanks in advance.

I used the black speaker cloth from partsexpress...many here will also recommend GoM (Guilford of Maine) fabric...I'm pretty sure they have a true black cloth that is acoustically transparent.

I'm not familiar with the Stewart black (use plasma) so I don't know if either would match...

Cheers,

Rich
Some folks have also gone to the local Radio Shack to get their speaker fabric. Don't forget about them!

Pam
The Radio Shack fabric length is too small for my need.

Has anyone compared the Guilford of Maine FR701 to the partsexpress black fabric? I would love to know your impressions, particularly which one is darker and which one looks better. Thanks in advance.
I used parts express and it looks and sounds great; cheep too
I just finished putting up my black (from parts express)...did the whole front wall (some doors, and panels to cover front wall)....looks very nice.

I still have to make the column tops (to hide the speakers), so I don't know yet how it sounds...

Cheers,

Rich
Most fabric stores have it. I got mine on sale at Joann's fabric for about $4 a yard. It was either 54" of 60" wide.I used it to make floor to ceiling columns, which hide my surrounds. It was a pure black and has just enough elasticity to make it easy to mount.
