Source Labeling for Processors and Receivers

560 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  PIRSQUARED
Do most AV Receivers and Processors have a source labeling feature? I'm fine with having "DVD, CD, VCR1, VCR2, VCR3" etc printed on the back next to the input jacks (although I would prefer "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" etc.) but would like to at least label them appropriately ("PS3, XBOX360, BLU-RAY" etc.) or even generically ("INPUT1, INPUT2, INPUT3, INPUT4" etc.) for display on the front of the unit.

This isn't really a feature that most manufacturers advertise as far as I know. I would like to make a list of receiver/processor brands and what level of functionality they offer as far as source labeling goes. Can I get some input on this? Thanks.

It depends on the brand and model within the brand. For example:

Denon/Marantz - yes, all of their "higher" end models (and possibly some of their lower models - check the manuals)

Onkyo/Integra - yes, only their "higher" end models (again, check the manuals)

Harmon Kardon - yes - most of their models

Pioneer - yes, but you can't actualy choose to display it, so it's self-defeating in a way!

Yamaha - same as Pioneer - you can relable them, but not actually display them!!!

To be sure, just download the manuals and read if that's a feature.
