Spades vs. Banana's

I've decided on picking up some WBT connectors to terminate my DIY speaker cables.

Will Spades or Banana's ends make a difference between the 2 ?

No difference whatsoever, except in ease of use. Im thinking about switching from all Banana to all Spade.
All spades, all the time.
Banana's seem to have the tendency to disconnect themselves more than spades.
On the speakers I use spades since they can be angled to better connect the cables. Banana's kinda stick out and I don't want to have the cable jetting out of the speaker at a 90 degree angle. However on my amps that is exactly what I want, so bananas on the amp and spades on the speaker.

Spades are more mechanically sound and they rely upon a screw down to pressure the spade against the terminals. Bananas *can* be sound, but they rely upon the spring pressure of the metal strips on the banana connector to maintain pressure. I've seen these wear out and not make good contact. I've also used them in professional applications with hundreds of Watts per speaker.

I still prefer spades if possible.

Brian.
I like bananas...for A/B'ing speakers and amplifiers.

I am using spades though.
My favorite connector is actually a combination of the two: crimp/soldered spade into a Monster Xterminator locking banana. The only problem is that the Xterminators are $30 per speaker.
*Sings* Waste of moneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy *Sings*
I use bannanas on the amp/reciever to cut down on clutter and spades on the speakers.
I prefer the spades, I feel they have a better surface contact then a banana, but as Fife says they are great for a/bing.
Spades are more secure but the expensive locking bananas are just as nice and are easier to disconnect.

My advice, you are paying waaay to much for the WBT name... I like their solder plenty, but there are much better alternatives that cost much less. Search for Vampire Wire on the internet and buy their spades, they OEM for many of the big guys out there.

Besides the obvious answer of ease of use, is there any advantage to either over just stripping the end of the wire and sticking it under the speaker post screw thingy?
None, it's just an ease of use thing. Some people claim there is a difference in surface area which makes contact with the post, but I could counter that by saying that the extra metal on the cable is degrading the signal. Any difference either way is inaudible anyway.

I use bare wire on the speaker posts as they are easily connected that way. On my receiver, though, with the crammed posts, bananas are easier to work with. I used bare wire before with my receiver and didn't notice any difference in sound when I switched to bananas (either good or bad).
