Just got my 55TXi. Looks good except the speaker binding post, which are suppose to be 5 way, but can not accept a spade from what I can tell. There are plastic protrusions which blockthe spade. It seems only bare wire, banana or pins will work here.


I was told it would accept the spade by Josh prior to purchase, but he has no idea. Told me to call Pioneer. Does 5 way mean a spade is one of the 5? Anyone else run into this issue?

Can anyone define what a 5 way binding post means and the connections it should allow?

A 5-way binding post should be able to accept bare wire, banana plugs, spade lugs, pins, and whatever you might consider 5th, such as dual banana plugs or alligator clips.


The raised edges around the receiver's posts are inrended to keep wire strands under the cap and prevent shorts. They should unscrew far enough to get spades under them.


If not, you can get banana plugs that accept spade lugs.

No luck, they don't budge. I guess many people opt not to use spades for the receiver. IMHO, this is bad design, especially for the "Elite" line.
