speaker choice

I am new to speakers. I have 4 questions below. Could you please help me choose speakers?

I am building my first home theater and I have already bought a new projection screen and a new projector. And I do have old 2 front and one central bookshelf speakers. Now I'd like to upgrade the speakers.

Based on my research, it seems better to have two big tower speakers at front.

Do you have any recommendation for these front tower speakers? My budget is $1500 for these two tower speakers.

Instead of using tower speakers, i saw very positive review of energy take 5.1 satellite speakers.

Now I am a little confusing now.

Question 3: Do I just buy 2 tower front speakers and using existing 2 front bookshelf speaker as surround speakers or do I just buy energy take 5.1 package or even Bose package?

Question 4: For speaker cable, do I just buy 16 gauge or lower? Any recommendation on the speaker cable?
