I have the chance to pick up a pair of tower speakers today at a 1 day sale.

One of the choices is a pair of Boston Accoustics VR950 lightly used for $150

The other is a pair of Klipsch SF2 demo for $290


These would be for a 50/50 music/movie listening in a 12'x16' room


I also need a receiver under $500 to match the speakers.


Are these speakers worth starting with or should I pass.

For the $ both sound good. Don't just buy to get a deal though... listen to some polk or other well regarded speakers.
