Good Afternoon everyone!

This is my first speaker set up and I just need some tips and opinions on the configuration! I have done a quick picture of the room and some of the proportions and was wonderind where you think I should place the back Left and Right speakers! The red squares are the two places I think might work but let me know! Oh and this is a 5.1 set up not a 7.1 so there is just the two backs! There is a 10 ft distance from the TV to the sitting space and a 9 ft distance from the sitting space to the back wall !

Thanks so much,

Graham

First off, for 5.1 you have fronts, center, sub, and surrounds....not rears.

The 2 extra channels for 7.1 are the rears.

Regardless, your proposed layout looks pretty good to me. The rears look like they may be a bit too far apart though.

Since it's 5.1, you want the surrounds to be to the side, not the rear.

The front position you have in your diagram is correct (to the left and right of the listening position, NOT behind it).

Your diagram looks pretty good for 7.1; the back position would be for the rear surrounds (which you don't have).
