Mediabridge Spades. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L83C5NS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Banana plugs can compress if re-inserted frequently, which makes them loosen.

That's not a real issue for most people. The Deadbolts are my favorite banana plugs, but the Mediabridge equivalents are about as good. (The similar-looking Amazon basics ones are less good.)
Locking banana plugs would probably alleviate that problem that happens with normal banana plugs: https://www.amazon.ca/GLS-Audio-Locking-Generation-Connector/dp/B000O8AHLA

I don't like spades when the binding posts are close to each other because I'm afraid of them shorting if the speaker wire is pulled and the spade gets rotated around the binding post to make contact with the other spade.

I do use spades on speakers where the posts are far apart. When they are close together, I use banana plugs. Bare wire into the binding posts is quite good also -- sometimes simple is better. When I use banana plugs, I strongly prefer "paired" plugs because again, I'm worried about shorting if one banana plug becomes loose or falls out. These paired banaplugs are cheap but they work well -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CL2AP22/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
