Hi,

I just got my polk audio rm 6750. I just connected to Onkyo receiver sr 608. Here is the setup (very simple)

I have just connected the 2 front speakers

front speaker left

front speaker right

Cable box hdmi output to receiver hdmi input

receiver hdmi output to tv's hdmi input

When I turn on the receiver and select input source as cable, video comes perfectly fine on the tv. But I have to increase the receiver volume to about 50 to even get slightest volume from both speakers.

Since these are new speakers and new receiver, i really doubt if it is a hardware issue.

If I have a ps3 as the input source, the volume is still low even if the receiver volume is increased to 52.

what might be going on ?

Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to resolve your specific problem. I'm only commenting because today I experienced something very similar with my setup (also Onkyo receiver). Popped in Casino Royale and it sounded incredibly tiny and on the verge of inaudible; had to pump up my volume to the halfway mark just to hear the majority of the soundtrack. Later found out what was the culprit; my little nephew must have messed with the remote and selected the overall audio DSP processing format as Mono. Wasn't easy to discover, as my particular receiver showed only the little Dolby Digital light and gave no indication of it being Mono. It's a longshot in your case, but check to see if the receiver is matched to the incoming audio signal (Dolby Digital, Stereo, etc).

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. It probably wouldn't hurt to double check your connections again in any case.

@op...

situation normal. continue to turn up volume...

the volume scale that you see on your avr is not linear... it's "db off reference"...

How do one know what db level to keep for each speakers ? I see way too many settings and my concern is that I dont want to end up having incorrect setting.

1. Run the Audyssey setup and EQ procedure.

2. Adjust volume to suit your needs and ignore the numbers.

+1 It couldn't be any simpler really... this is what Audyssey was designed for.

hi guys,

I ran the Audyssey setup and I can definitely feel huge difference. I am liking it. I also connected the subwoofer and that makes the difference.

Overall, I am happy. I saw Iron man and Eraser (i was wanting to see eraser in my home theater for about 8 years now and I cant believe I finally found the opportunity ) and I loved watching both movies.

I want to remind myself that I have got 7.2 receiver but using only 5.1 setup. I am in an apt so my volume is just good enough but would buy bookshelf speakers when I move into a bigger place.

Thanks for some great inputs here.
