In my 11' by 17' room I have Infinity Beta 40s front, Beta 20s rears, Beta C360 center and an Outlaw Sub.

(Onkyo TX-SR606 & 42" LCD).

Can anyone else claim to do a better overkill in a small room?

My room is quite large at 16' wide and 19' long, but currently, I have Paradigm Reference 100's up front along with the CC-490 center, some cheap MB Quart towers for the rears and a Cerwin Vega Stroker 18 (that's an 18inch sub) in a custom box for the lows. Eventually, I will have all Paradigm speakers. ADP srrounds and Servo15 for sub. The Ref 100's are powered by a Rotel RB-1090 (400wrms /ch) http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/100rotel/

The center and rears are powered by a 5ch Rotel RB-1075 http://www.rotel.com/NA/products/Pro...=3&Tab=1&Pic=1 120wrms/ch

Well, now that you've thrown down the gauntlet...

My theater is 11.5' x 19'. I have three Triad Gold Monitors up front ($3800 each), with two Triad InRoom Gold PowerSubs each with 500 watt amps and 15" drivers. The fronts are driven by Lyngdorf semi-digital amps with 375 watts into four ohms per channel. The side surrounds are Triad InWall Silver Surrounds, fed 125 watts per channel, and the rears are Triad InWall Gold Omnis, fed with 125 watts per channel. So, that's about 2,600 real watts and about $18,000 worth of speakers in a room that's 1,750 cubic feet. I have a 92" Screen Research screen and Mits projector, and a bunch of other components.

I don't consider that overkill. Of course, I also have a 505 horsepower car. :

BTW, you have a great system, capable of causing structural damage.

Most people would have said "Drop your shorts and get the ruler out"

But you said "yardstick", this could be fun.

Amateurs. When I was much younger...

12' x 14' single apartment living room with a pair of Acoustat Model 8 electrostats in it. Each one was 8 feet tall, 4 feet wide. 4 monoblock tube amps. Flanking them were two woofer columns with 6 12" woofers per side. Everything was black. Coming into my place was like entering a 2001 Space Odyssey shrine or something. I ate Ramen, rode a cheap motorcycle and worked at an audio shop to afford to buy audio gear.

I failed to mention that for three years, in a 11.5' x 19' theater, I ran Triad Platinum LCRs and two Platinum PowerSubs (18" driver.) I drove the LCRs with big Parasound amps that were 700 watts bridged into 4 ohms. I could hit 124 dB peaks at the money seat.

The Acoustat Model 8 overkill story is a good one, too, but they don't play very loud. They sound amazing, and they must have totally dominated that room. I had Model Threes, and I was the biggest Acoustat dealer in the world in 1983, back when most of you were spitting up oatmeal in your cribs.

Nice!

11 x11 room, one doorway. Paradigm Studio 20s V.4, CC-590, and Maranntz SR6003. HSU STF-2 SUB.

If you play this loud enough, I'm positive your head will explode.

What about "grow a pair"

You know, after reading this, I don't feel so bad about stuffing SVS MTS family speakers and a 50" TV into a 11.5'x14' room. I'm the most level headed one in here

DIY Horns in a 14x10x9.5 bedroom.

The two bass horns and the sub are 13 feet wide, taking up the entire front wall of the room and about 1/4 of the rooms square footage.

Total weight for the LR + sub is around 700lb and they are able to put out around 110db with a single watt. Crossover is an active digital unit with EQ. Total power is a silly 2720 watts.

One day I hope to have a finished basement to put them in, but I also designed them so they would fit in the bedroom without blocking the 96'" screen.

Good to see I'm not the only crazy one.

Impressive! It must have taken a lot of trips to get that home on the motorcycle
