I'm getting ready to mount my front speakers around my wall mounted panny. I'm using Gallo Micros for R/L and a Gallo Due' for the center. All will be wall-mounted. The bottom of the plasma is about 30" from the floor.

Should the center channel be above or below the screen?

Should the L and R be at the same height as the center or is that not important?

this gets covered all the time in the ht builder forum....(generally re: fp's though).

Best: mains and center lined up, at ~ ear level

Next best: mains at ear level, center above (within ~2') angled down slightly

Next Next best: mains same, center below mains, but angled up

Why? As humans (formerly hunter/gatherer types...and subject to attack from predators) our hearing acuity is more refined when sounds come from below eye level...placing the center above eye-level reduces the "localization" of the sound, making it seem to emanate from a non-specific point in front of you. When placed below, we can much more easily localize the sound, reducing the illusion that the sound is coming from the screen.

Cheers,

Rich
