Hey there AVS! It's been over a month now and I am still struggling trying to find the best setup for my price range. I have read dozens of reviews and specs or MANY products but I just can't decide.
I currently have a plasma in a 19x15 living room. I am looking for 5.1 surround sounds. I have considered Energy Take 5's, Acoustic Research HD510, Polk Audio RM6750, and even some HTIB, Onkyo HT-S3200, Sony HT-SS360.
Right now, from what I have read up. The warning sign is telling me to NOT get a HTIB if I want a long lasting system.
However, I am on a tight budget around the $350 range. I personally want to buy a separate setup, by buying the receiver and the speakers separately.
Does anyone know a setup out there that would be good around that price range? Everyone is debating about Dolby True HD and DTS-HD. I am quite confused on my needs and wants. I mean, it'll be terrific if I can get a receiver that has Dolby True HD and FULL HDMI connectivity (NOT PASSTHRU).
Does anyone have any suggestions on a 5.1 receiver that has at least some of these features and is around $200 range:
-Dolby True HD (I might not even need this because I am hooking it up to my PS3, which is suppose to decode it)
-HDMI (not passthru) connectivity
-Auto collaboration
And now to the speakers. Is there a set of reliable and good 5.1 speakers that I can get for a reasonable price around $200 also?
I think my parents would be using these speakers mainly more than I would. I would be watching blu-rays now and then. But my parents are really into sound and they would even use the surrounds for a tv show. But the thing is they're in their 60's and they might not even notice any HD quality.
What are you guys' suggestions?
