If I intend on using all my speakers set to small will their be any percieved difference in quality in using 14 ga instead of 12 ga.

There is no corrolation between the two. Setting your speakers to small is an LFE setup. It means that when you set them to small, you are using a subwoofer for those particular channels for the bass energy. Speaker gauge should be determined by the length of the speaker wire used. Normally, we use 16 gauge wire. If however, your speaker wire lengths are quite long, you may need to use 14 or even 12 gauge wire.

What would be considered long, my longest actual wire run would be about 35 ft.

GMan: You're OK with 16 gauge. I recommend CL-2 UL wire (fire rated for code). Make sure you set up your LFE for your configuration. Good Luck
