I'm about to order UIW 75 for center/L/R and a pair of UIW 65 for the rears. I am limited to in-wall speakers due to WAF.


What would be good speakers to compare to the prices of Definitive Technology UIW 65 and 75 in-wall speakers?

These 5 speakers add up to ~$1k. I think I'm comfortable with that price range.

UIW 75 are $250 and the 65 are $175.



The room is 19'5" length X 13'7" wide X 9' height dedicated threatre/gaming room. Viewing/listening range is 12-15 or 16ft.

Planning on acoustic panels on walls and ceiling.

I was going to use UIW RLS III for the three fronts, but thats quite a jump in quality from what I am accustomed to. I'll upgrade in the future for some experimental fun.

Ordered from Digitalcraze. I just called to confirm that the products were available and to get ETA. I was told "2 weeks, 7-14 days. 14 days being your worst case scenario." Crossing fingers.

The seller is rather sketchy. If I understand it, it sounds like they quote you a price and then have to go out and find the speakers at the price they quoted you from their sources. It sounds like they don't actually have these things in stock.

I just called and they told me tracking number would likely be available Friday and product should arrive by middle of next week.

They have a seller rating of 8.38, anything less than 9.5 is considered poor. Read the reviews, the complaints are all related to slow shipping. Even those who rated them high said they're slow to ship.

Companies like this ALSO build up orders until they meet a certain quantity to get bulk discounts from suppliers. They could very well be waiting to fill 20-30-40 sets before they actually place an order and ship. That could take several weeks to three months. In the meantime they have your money to leverage against filling other pending orders. They are a clearing house.

Speakers ordered on 4/16. I received the tracking number on the following Monday evening at 4/29 and arrived by UPS Thursday. Speakers look good to me. They sound a bit bright but they aren't broken in. I read a personal review that they sound a bit bright inherently.
