hi i am in the market for audio speakers (bookshelf) that would really have clear vocals. i mainly listen to vocal rich music with minimal instruments and accompaniment in the league of johnny mathis, nat king cole, norah jones, sarah, aaron neville and the likes) i would want speakers that would enable me to suspend disbelief so that if i closed my eyes it would seem that the artist is singing in front of me. lastly, they should not bust my bankbook.

any recommendations ??

thanks

I have its bigger sibling Empress and vocals on these speakers are closer to life than anything else I have listened to. One other thing that can breath life in your setup is tube pre/amp. Treatment of 1st reflection points is also a must for pristine imaging.

best of luck,

I know there are those who would disagree with this, but I think to get what you're looking for is a pretty expensive proposition. It involves investment in the room, the electronics and the speakers. I consider it more a pursuit than an end, but that's just me...

Just got these myself. Make sure you get 24" stands for them, too. They run under $900 a pair new. As for speaker cable that matches them perfectly and makes them sound like $5,000 speakers, get thee over to Signal Cable's website and order two pairs of their Silver Resolution cable.

I suggest trying a pair of Home Theater Direct Middies with a decent sub that crosses over to at least 100 Hz. Won't cost you much to try them and it's free to ship them back if they don't do it for you. See HTD's site for details. http://www.htd.com/cabinet-speakers/flat-panel-speakers

You also might want to consider headphones. Norah Jones sounds pretty sweet with my HD580 Sennheisers.

If I had Norah Jones singing in person next to my ear, I would think that's pretty sweet, too!

Aerial Acoustics Model 5B.

Thats if your budget allows.

Dynaudio if its a bit less.

Tyler Acoustics if you want intenet brand.

NHT Classic threes.

Those are my personal recommendations, but will need quality source, and power to get the most out of em.
