2x Ascend 340SE for L and R

1x Ascend 340SE Center

1x HSU STF-2

package price of $1228 .. plus get a couple of stands for the Left and Right speakers. The Wood-Tech furniture grade 21" stands are pretty decent for $50/pair.

How big is your room?
Assuming you can place the speakers a ways away from the rear wall, I suggest one pair of Definitive Technology BP7006. Each speaker has a capable powered subwoofer built in. Run a "Y" adapter from your receiver's LFE output into the LFE inputs on each tower. Add a matching center channel in the future from the L/C/R series, or not, you won't miss it. Just set your receiver for 'phantom center' or the like. Assuming your local dealer will negotiate, you can come in well under the target budget for the pair.
