I am wanting to try this but i get paid till next week so pictures in a week or so when i can buy materials to test.

Description is a osb half inch floor with entire perimeter suspended via rubber cords aka bungie cords .
Height of perimeter frame 3 inches or two inches so going to test suspending my tv couch before trying an entire osb sheet.

As always i have no idea what i am doing but i will test this idea.

My guess is that you’d have trouble tuning the suspension to keep it from immediately bottoming out with varying numbers of people, or if the suspension is really tight to handle any load, the tactile resonance is going to fluctuate wildly with load. Think a guitar string as tension is added. I also suspect it might feel a bit like a trampoline, someone shifting in their seat might cause the whole thing to bounce.

A loosely coupled, non-tensioned floor is the current knowledge on building tactile floors.
If you try it though let us know, it would be quite interesting to see the experiment.

Iteration

Iteration 1
Due to limited budget went with whats available in the garage.

Materials two boxes of cheap rubberbands a double handfull of metal screwin eyelet
Some very flimsy scrap wood bits
A few 90 degree metal corners
A handfull of one inch sheetrock drywall black screws for philips screwdriver bit.

Needed to lift 20 kilos boss 3 subwoofer board, 20 kilo recliner and 80 kilo person.

3 rubberbands per eyelet resulted in about a ten kilo pull with the flimsy surrounding wooden frame deforming dramatically

K then

Iteration two added more scrap wood to stifen surrounding frame
Added ten rubber bands per eyelet attachment point for a 30 kilo pull that resulted in boss board being suspended but again flimsy surronding frame bent like a bow and produced a sound like crack...crack CRACK!!!

removed all rubberbands from flimsy frame and tossed it away.

Awaiting monday or tuesday to start iteration three with four inch by four inch thick surrond wooden frame boards and twenty rubber bands per eyelet atachment point

And adding 40 more eyelet attachment points to iteration three

Hopefully these pictures get added.

In 2020 perhaps i will build a boss platform with 8 fi car audio ib318 v2 subwoofers and 2 behringer nx3000 dsp amplifiers in addition to the 16 ib318 v2 subwoofers and 4 behringer nx3000 dsp amplifiers that i am considering for 2020 .

Or a really expensive 32 neodymium magnet boss platform build for 2020.
K?

Back to 2019 i am experimenting with whats on hand like cheap rubberbands and regardless of meta results i am doing the uber meta with my experiment

Having fun.

I use these attached to my seats and they work really well providing that low end "feel". Sometimes I forget to turn on my big sub and still get sense of big and deep bass coming from the shakers.

The auras work ok but i am wanting a shake level where the seats may require a four point safety restraint harness to keep me in my seat.

Perhaps in 2020 a boss build with 8 ib318 v2 subwoofers will provide the shake level but till then i am limited to junk found around the garage .

Hopefully by tomorrow my lumberyard has some dry wood so i can test iteration three?
Update given 100 kilo static load and 300 kilo dynamic load .

Changed from 50 attach points to 180 attach points, Changed from 250 rubber bands to 1800 rubber bands to reach load bearing dynamic targets

Well idk if this is going to work but it's unique at least. And from an experimentation standpoint interesting. Perhaps some sort of limiting system would help? Maybe some blocks of a rubbery substance (cut up horse stall mats perhaps) under the platform could keep the "suspension" from bottoming out too much and damaging the rubber band setup...

Just finished testing and its a little bit more shake but not worth all the build time as a basic boss build is better.Oh well i just have to save up for at least 4 more ib318 v2 subwoofers and another behringer nx3000 dsp amplifier to improve my boss build .

thank you for Taking One for the Team. TOFT
I retryed my tests and got other results.

I removed my sams club couch and just stod barefoot on top of the boss flying platform and played some base mechanic tracks and some movie tracks like 2012.

First the kinda good news when the bass hits it makes my speaking voice sound like a crazy sheep and my eyeballs shake.

The bad news is it took me doing an imitation of m j fox in back to the future as i stood there barefoot on my flying boss platform looking like i was hoverboarding.

I am not going to stand two hours to watch a movie on my hoverboard.

My final conclusion is that its my tv couch and the way that it couples to my body that needs improvement for more tr.

Thus a better designed couch with better trcoupling will give more tr to the listener.

Oh geez off i go to try and do a better diy couch for better tr coupling as most dready made tv ortheater couches are focused on looks comfort instead of tr comfort looks.

Same problem only reversed.

The limitation is my couch and most couches i just saw at a furniture store are not optimized for maximal coupling to transfer the tr from speakers to body at mlp.

Going to do more research then after september sixth when i get paid i will try a few tests with a diy theater couch to check whats more optimal.

Going to look at thin wood, thin plywood sheet metal, etc.

This thread is strangely intriguing.

Maybe a Walmart style futon? They are reasonably comfortable at least initially, cheap, but the futon mattress is much firmer than the cushion foam used in most couches.

I was just thinking about that type of couch only here instead of kidney bean they call them puff puff couches here in mexico walmart where my kids let loose a lol as i am playing dragon quest 11 and there are many puff puff girls in the game.

On september 6th once i get a puff puff couch i will experiment with several types of puff puff fillings like wood shaveing of several wood types, styrofoam , sand, gravel, several types of ROUNDED rocks and perhaps other materials like metal shaveings and pumice stones and small bits and pieces of cut up cardboard boxes.

Edit just called several earthquake centers and i was told that the earth shakes left to right, front to back and more importantly up and down.

Thus i went back and got my iteration three hoverboard boss framework and in september 6th will place the puff puff bag couch on top of hoverboard boss to get three axis tr shake.

Hopefully these pictures show up.

New build will be with brown couch removed and puff puff counch on top of hoverboard.

Umm the base is not touching the concrete due to either some black rubber isos i made or else this was the isos in the corners with the lift provided by expensive borrowed neodymium magnets.

Sorry but three thousand for some neodymium magnets is too expensive for me till maybe 2020.
Tests in a few days.
