I've got a three foot monster video cable (the kind with rca ends) I want to splice it and use cat5 to extend the length to about 25 feet to use with my projector (just for video games) Does anybody know how to go about this?

Yeah - DON'T.


Seriously, don't splice video cable in general if you can help it. You'll lose the integrity of the shield and probably seriously hose the impedance. And that's with PROPER VIDEO CABLE!


CAT5 is not gonna cut it. You'll likely end up with an unusable mess. Go out to RatShack and get a cheap composite video cable.

Actually, Cat 5 can work very nicely. I'm using it myself. I a/B testeed witha few friends ad they couldn't see a difference between it and the mid-grade Monster cable.


Don't splice, just build a new component out of the CAT 5 using the following article:
