I have 2 TVs, one digital, one analog and a HDHomeRun with a computer.

1) Had the HDHomeRun and digital TV on a 2way splitter -> all worked great and the analog TV on the OTA

2) now I got a 4 way splitter and put the analog TV on the cable as well: Both TVs work fine but the computer with the HDHomeRun only gets one standing picture -> no continuous TV. In the pref setting it shows that the signal strenth is 95%

Question: 1) is signal strength too low now?

2) why does the HDTV receive the signal without issues?

3) the 4th port is empty: is that a problem?

Yes - having the 4th port open is not helping - putting a terminator would be a good thing to do.


But your real problem is that the tuners are now getting about 50% of the signal power they were before. I would recommend a 3-6 dB distribution amp instead of the 4 way splitter in your situation. Just don't go crazy and get anything more than 10dB - too much signal is as bad as too little.

I have used the 3043, 2 output version, with good results.

That's a little more OOMPH than I had in mind, but it may work OK.
