I have a couple of DVDs in gimmicky packaging (Total Recall SE and Basic Instinct SE) where the disc is stored against a ciruclar cushion of spongey foam. This seems a little dicey to me. Can't this kind of foam "rot" or at least harden over time and damage my DVD? Or is it o.k. to store it like this? The disc is constantly pressed against it in both packages.

The reason I ask is because I was reading how the soft foam used in some speakers can rot, but it may take 10-15 years. Just wondering.

10-15 yrs? Dont worry about it, between now and then the studio will sucker you into 16 more versions of these movies. SE-DTS, Superbit, SE-DTS Collectors Edition, DTS-EX Super Duper 4 Disc Directors Cut, HD-SE, HD-EE....well, you get the picture.
