Sportster Volume with remote

I cannot for the life of me get the volume button on my Sportster replay to work. Anybody else have this issue, if so how do I correct it?

The volume control works only with the boombox.

It's unfortunate that the volume control doesn't at least control the 'Audio Output Level' that's in the menu options since it isn't doing anything else. I find that for the FM transmitter to my car stereo I need to listen to Stern louder than the music channels. It would just be nicer to use that remote instead of having to turn my radio up and down. How quickly we get used to having remotes.
