I am new D* subscriber with an HD TV and D* HD package. I also qualify for DNS so I have CBS East and West for HD. What are the issues that I need to consider for making the ST choice?

It would seem to me that I should be able to add FOX HD throught the DNS package when available so that should give me more HD games. Given those options does that mean that ST will only offer me a few more HD games and some other SD games?

What am I missing?

Well considering Fox has commited to doing 5-6 NFL games in HD per week, you'd be missing all of them except the one shown on Fox NY (through DNS). The same goes for CBS if they decide to do more than one game in HD per week.

You just order NFL:ST and watch the games. If you already have a triple LNB Dish and a HDTV STB, then you should be fully equipped. There are local blackouts on some games, but since you qualify for DNS, that most likely won't effect you.

I have no idea what you think that you might be missing.

It depends on where you are. Odds are high that CBS-HD and FOX-HD will be blocked during the Sunday games (the SD feeds most likely won't be) to all but New York and LA. Even if they aren't, those channels will only show the game their companion analog station shows which, in CBS' case, could very well be SD. If you're truly in a "white" area (no DNS waiver required) you might still get those feeds. But the NFL decides which games will be available to what parts of the country. So if you want to see any other Sunday games than the three the NFL has designated for your region, you'll need ST.

As a native Michigander living in New England, I would pretty much never be able to see the Lions without ST. (Some might consider that a good thing.:p )

One of the fun things about having ALL the games is that I can switch to a game with an exciting finish, when I would have otherwise not been interested in it.

It sounds like that even with DNS some of my games could be blacked out without ST. That was what I was missing. I didn't know if that would happen or not. It makes sense that D* would want to protect their ST.

Yes I have a new Triple LNB since I just installed two months ago. Still learning my way around the issues. Thanks for all the help.

True, but it's actually the NFL's call. If it weren't then CBS affiliates could have shown the HD game on their DT channels and left the regular regional game on their analog. While some did to that, they weren't supposed to. Unlike the NCAA Basketball tournament. In that case CBS permitted its affiliates to do as they pleased. Some multichanneled all four streams. No way the NFL is letting THAT happen .

Which games does KCBS show?

The Raiders or the Chargers? That could be a big deal up here in the Bay Area if they show Raider games because Raiders don't sell out their home games.

But any games in HD would be nice.
