I have recently had an offer to good to refuse ,Twin 1292' units with identical tube hours on both recently changed ,300 hours.

The price is very good but I am not sure if I want an airport in my theatre.

I am going to buy these regardless but does anyone think it would be worth trying to quiet them down and blend them, or just flog them on fleabay.

I am throwing up between this option and my xg135lc to go into my new house with purpose built theatre.

I have never seen a 1292 but I hear they a just big, loud and not very bright.

Two 1292's can't be more difficult to set up than 1 XG :D

Sweetchuck,

send me a mail if you replace your XGLC. I'll give it a good home while you play with the 1292's

if you do a stack with 1292 projectors do a vertical one

not side by side

and you will need a hush box a big one

the 1292 does not have enough give in the

convergence to do a side by side and really get it right

Hi,

side by side might be possible with the 1292 at larger screen sizes like 11ft and more - why not try it if you have the room ?

I wouldn't want any projector to sit around on my HT floor as a permanent solution, so I am all for side by side If you want to stack, although personally I prefer high-gain curved screen solutions.

Blending doesn't work as it should as of now, besides it is most interesting for HD which is even farther from satisfactory blending solutions than DVD.

Those 1292's would have to go in a hushbox BTW and this would have to be a big one - just look at Art's setup :)

Regarding the 1292/XG LC comparison: A friend of mine just moved from the XG LC to the 1292 - he thinks (as I do) that both have areas where they are superior to the other so your taste may differ - you'll have to compare for yourself.

If you dont want to ever display 1080p keep the XG, If you want real HDTV then keep the 1292.

Correctly set up a 1292 smokes the XGLC. Don't listen to the ******** about the brightness. Its an old wives tale.

If I knew where they where in Melbourne you would have to fight me for em. I am down to my last one !!

PM me if you want to do organize a deal with them them !! The freight to Brissie is steep, especially if you have to ship them south again to sell em.

I disagree ,the XG is quite capable of 1080p I have done it ,it takes a lot of tweaking though.

What good is 1080p when you don't have the source material.

720p is more than enough for DVD on a 10 " screen.

Ummm I didnt say it wouldnt display a picture at 1080p. It's within its frequency capabilities.

It will not resolve it on the screen without scan overlap !! Its just a physical fact.

The tubes in a XGLC are about 2/3 of the area of the tubes in 1292!!

If you have ever seen the tube face of a 09MFX3 tube with the tank off. IT IS HUGE. About half an A4 page in size.

You cant get away from the limitations of tube face size with an 8 inch projector.

The generally accepted maximum resolvable resolution of an XG is around 920 lines.

If you dont have a 9 inch projector it just cant do it. Line overlap bcomes the limiting factor.

Also the bandwidth of the XG is lower than the 1292.

Oh by the way, the source material is coming. I already have 30 or so 1080p titles. They are substancially better than anything at 720P.

Even 1080i looks much much better on a HTPC scabnned at 1080p.

1080p is where the real new ground lies for HDTV. Like I said if you recon it doesnt matter, keep the XG.

You will find later it really does !!
