I'm trying to find out if there are any special construction technics for around the doorway of a staggered wall or should I just build it the standard way.

Thanks,

Tom

Construction wise it is built the same way although you will need an extended jam. However, the door will be your weak link as far as trying to keep the sound in.

I'm planning on using a 36 inch door which would normally be roughed-in as 38" x 82.75". The idea I have is to making the rough-in 39.5" X 81.5" and then ripping down a 1 X 8 finish down a grade pine board on all three sides of the door opening and then use a standard prehung door casing without the pre-installed trim. I haven't done this yet, but can anyone think of a reason it wouldn't work? I like Woollly's idea of using a solid wood door with exterior seal. I will add this and incorporate this into my plan.
