STAND ALONE dOLBTY DECODER IN PC

325 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  BIGGERISBETTER
Hi All

I wish to input coax or optical digital signal from my dvd player, STB or xbox into my Aopen AW850D soundcard which has digtial in and 5.1 out.

But I need some software to decode the signal from the digital input and then process into dolby 5.1 or DTS etc and output via the 5.1 analogue on the same sound card.

Does anybody know how to do this and if so what software etc.

Many thanks in advance

Try searching as this has been discussed at length in the past. A few people have managed to receive and record AC3 over SPDIF in with a regular soundcard, but not in realtime. To my knowledge it is not possible unless you buy a sound card that explicitly supports decoding AC3 from external sources, like the SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum or the older Extigy.
