Standard Pioneer PDP and ISF calibration.

I called Pioneer support yesterday and spoke to a rep that said only the Elite Plasmas can be ISF calibrated. The reason being, he said, is that there is no software available, the service tech would have to adjust it manually. I guess this would be better than no calibration, but would probably depend very much on the person's skill and experience.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Any details on the actual (non-software) procedure would be appreciated.

Thanks!

ISF ccc sets are certified to have lockable calibration presets - but it does not mean that everything that came before cannot be done. It may be the case you are locked out of the menus without the special calibration remotes.

automated calibration (tell the set what you measure - it fixes itself) is a good idea in theory - but usually coded by a software engineer with no clue how to tune a TV. Rather bypass it and calibrate it manually....yes manual calibration is dependent on skill and experience. There probably are bad calibrators out there which the automated calibrations could do a better job at!
