Well the wife likes the HLN617 so I am gonna pull the trigger, but she HATED the Samsung stand and thought the Bello I liked was overpriced. What do you guys who have this set use for a Stand for it? I would like one with at least some room for Components to go under it or at least room to put my center channel speaker down there. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!

We Palo Altoans (Palo Altans?) know our IKEA! Though I actually haven't been there yet, too much traffic.

I haven't been there yet either. I got my stand where I was born -- Emeryville.

I don't have the final answer for this but Techcraft makes some nice TV stands and some of the CC stores are loaded with various stands to look at. What I have done and it also opens up your possibilities is to look at various coffee tables (usually 22-30 inches by 46-50 inches with varying heights of 15 to 20 inches) which can be cut down if necessary. (Try a Google search for "mission coffee table").

I built my own because I got sick of trying to find one that was the correct width and height, and that I could put all my components in. Everything was too much of a compromise. Here is a picture:

If you have some tools/skills (table saw, biscuit joiner, etc) it's pretty easy to do.

Here is a stand from Target that will work for the 61". It comes in black and maple and seems to be on sale for only $79! Your TV will extend about 1/2" over each side (which is fine because the actual pedastal the TV sits on is much narrower than the TV itself). It didn't look odd too me at all. I had this stand at first, but felt it was too high for me. I'm only 9 feet away from mine, so it may be different for you. You can also not put on th elegs and that drops it about 3".

You won'n be able to put your components on this stand the shelves behind the doors are too narrow. But, you may be able to put your center channel in the middle, as that space it quite large. They do make matching component racks that look nice.

Well, some of the Bello stands can be pricey. This one (AVSC 2102, 475 - 500) is cheaper than the Samsung stand and accommodates my Infinity Alpha center channel on the top shelf in front of the TV (the back of the TV is overhanging a little, but all of the support feet are on the glass shelf).

I have no problem receiving remote signals on the TV with the cc in this location. I have no idea where the remote receiver is on the TV, but it takes commands even when pointed a foot to either side of the TV.

I routed the cc speaker wire under the TV (in the gaps between the supports). The cable has to be flat, like Monster, or small diameter circular.

One disadvantage of the Bello's is the relatively low capacity of the lower shelves (50 lbs.). That's why my Yamaha RXV3300 is by itself on the bottom.

The stand, at 22.5" (sunk into the carpet), is a little high if you want the center of the picture to be at eye height. But we sit 11 - 14' from the set, so the there's virtually no drop off in brightness due to the vertical viewing angle. Since the cc is too heavy to place on top, this stand worked well for me by accommodating all of my components.

It took me a long time to find something that worked for me (and my wife). Good luck.

Its Palo Altans. :)

Let me know if anybody runs into a 10"H stand (56"W preferably). I'll probably have to construct my own.

I can't resist. :)

Why so low?

That would set the 61" at the perfect level viewing height for our couch and would minimize the overall height as to not block any more of our view out the front window (have 45" Mits CRT RPTV there now). I also need to have the bottom of the image not blocked by our coffee table (18"x40"x40"). I saw someone mention Lovan stands and they do make some stands that would work. They seem fairly expensive but I'll check them out.

Hm, I could be off a little, and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. But I am interested in your point of view (play on words :)

On a 10" table, the center of the screen will be at approx 36". That seems a little low for eye level on a standard couch. Also, I don't know if it is important to you, but it will make viewing from the standing position (say behind the couch) not as nice. You could slightly angle the TV (lower the back or raise the front) to adjust.

Just wondering.

Oh, and I forgot something. Extrapolating that if 36" is your eye level while siting on your couch, and your coffee table is 18" tall, of course depending on the distance between you and the table and the table and the TV, you may not be able to put anything on the table without obstructing the bottom of the screen.

Just something else to think about.

Well I got my Bush stand moved into place awaiting delivery of our HLN617W on friday. This is the one that CC sells, don't recall the model number. Both my wife and I like the stands looks. The only reservation I have after getting it in place is the height. At 22" I am worried that it might place the TV to high for what I am used to. Our old entertainment center put our other tv at about 17". But I guess we will just have to wait and see how it is. If I decide I don't like it I am either going to get the Opilli stand or I will take the current stand to my friends and do a bit of cutting and welding to get it to a lower height.

Eye level on our couch is about 37". This is the level I want to optimize for.

There is no behind the couch ... just a wall. I don't care about any standing viewing.

The bottom of the image on our current 45" RPTV is 19 1/2". The current Sammy 61" would have its bottom image edge at about the same, 19 3/16" if the stand is exactly 10" on the overall height. I also plan on moving the couch forward just a bit. The overall height on the 61" Sammy on a 10" stand would be 50 1/8" ... just 1 1/8" taller than my current RPTV. The HLN617 would allow me the largest screen size for my space requirements; next size down would be a 56" DLP or the Mits 55" CRT.
