Correct, it is grey market.

Oddly, much of the programming is US and US re-runs.

Since the Canadians haven't chimed in by now, I am assuming RPTV doesn't work there. If I understand right, RPTV will update the program lists via broadband? But even if it doesn't I have flat fee long distance to the US and Canada so it wouldn't be the cost of the call I'd be worried about.

I'm also a Star Choice user via the Grey market. *just to be different I guess* No, RPTV does NOT offer a listing for Canadian programming .

That's a shame. I actually subscribe to both SC and US DBS, but I haven't found a low cost digital way to record SC. Guess I'll just have to stick with the VCR. :(

There isn't one...that's the point. Not an inexpensive one, anyway.

There is a project called DVRBB (for DVR black box) that many 4DTV owners are beginning to enjoy. In case you're not familiar, 4DTV is based on essentially the same technology as the Star Choice reveivers.

The DVRBB is designed to provide an intelligent interface between various PVR's and satellite receivers that aren't directly addressed by the PVR's guide mechanism.

You can find out more at http://www.satforums.com in the 4DTV forum.
