Everyone who is new to this forum must go through the acoustical gauntlet to demonstrate their merit
In other words, start with the acoustics thread sticky at the top of the forum page. It is an unadulterated bear to get through, however, you will come out a better man with a much better understanding of designing, building, and treating a room for HT/listening.
Next, I would spend time just looking at other's HT threads. There is a wealth of information on what to do and more importantly what not to do.
Also, the green glue website has a lot of information about constructing a room with sound isolation in mind (preventing sound from entering/exiting the room).
