This is a disgrace! Too many repeats and if you take the repeats out you end up with 25 movies in February!! They only showed 23 in January. Compare this to HBO-HD and Cinemax-HD and you get double from them. What a waste this channel has turned out to be. :(

And probably only about 5 in HD.

Maxman,

The listed movies are all shown in HD. But I agree 25 movies in HD in one month is pathetic.

And the start times on most of them would require you to time shift, IF you have that capability...

Most of them will show in 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm totally confused if this is indeed upconverted HD.

Starz calls them "TrueHDTV" on its website, so I would hope most of the 25 listed titles are not in 4:3 on Starz HD!!! Terrible false advertising if so.

Click on the link in the first post above, you will see what I mean.

I can't agree more. I'm close to pulling the plug on it. Would have love to see Reign of Fire and Red Dragon in HD. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT.

I think it's because they were up front about how much HD they were going to have until the new studio is ready.

Is Starz HD similar to the way HBO-HD and Showtime-HD were in the beginning?? Maybe some early subscribers can remember.

I would say that ESPN gets its fair share of bashing, but like mulesqb said they were up front about their content.

Also, ESPN-HD isn't a "premium" service on most cable carriers (I have no idea about Sat), so it doesn't cost any extra.

For Sat you must pay 10.99 or 11.99 per month for the HD package which includes ESPNHD.

I love the "UP FRONT" defense for ESPHD. Are they being "UP FRONT" when they claim they are "the first 24-hour high-definition national sports service in the country."

dm - I'm not defending them. I'm just saying that I'm not upset about it because I knew what I was getting when I subscribed, because they said it wouldn't be until April 2004 until the studio was done.

With Starz I didn't hear anything about only 20 something movies a month that are actually in HD. I have HBO-HD and SHO-HD and am pretty satisfied with the amount of HD they broadcast. A lot of times I'll check the newspaper for the Starz listings for the given night and it will say HD, but when you go to watch it isn't. That hasn't happened to me with ESPN yet. Come May, I will have a totally different take on ESPN if there aren't changes to the current stretched stuff.

For most of us (I think) the issue is when is STARZ HD going to show up on D*** or E*** so we can try it out and decide.

Not to stray too off topic, but I've never been satisfied with SHO-HD. I don't enjoy most of their movies and they don't have enough in HD, but Cinemax HD has been great. It has as much HD as HBO if not more (because they don't show HBO's studio shows or boxing).

I was under the impression that Starz-HD was simply a mirror of their flagship channel with all the movies telecined into HD, as HBO and Showtime do. Judging by the movie titles in this post, guess that's not the case. Here's hoping DISH gets Cinemax-HD up first!

ESPN will be all pure HD soon. Hang in there!
