I extended the audio outputs from my Bell Expressvu 6100 into the bedroom. I'm getting a fair bit of humming from the audio on the tv in there. I'm guessing when you stretch a cable 40ft it's going to pick up some interference or humm. Is there a way to reduce or fix this ? Its just 2 RCA/Component signals for the aduio. Red and Black.

I have some 35ft runs and dont' get any hum.

Could be you need cables with better shielding, could be you've created a ground loop. It's not uncommon to create a ground loop when plugging into a TV.

There is a sticky about hum on one of the Audio subforums. Here is a link .

Sorry, I figured out what the problem was. For some odd reason when I'm using S-video in Vid2 on the TV I get the humm. If I disconnect it, its fine. It seems the humm is coming from the All in one surround sound system whcih is where the s-video is coming from. Problem solved.
