Hi,

I just had Comcast come and upgrade my basic cable to digital and HD. I was unable to get reliable OTA with my Sammy 160.

Question is: Is there a better cable STB that I can use? They gave me the Motorola 5100 but I really don't like it. The guide is the worst I've ever seen and the box is just downright quirky. If I'm understanding correctly, the STB would have to have a QAM tuner? Do they all use that awful TV Guide brand guide?

Thanks,

Tom

No. You have to use what they supply, at least for now.

Just appearing on the market now are CableCARD compatible devices; HDTV's and STB's. These devices provide access to all cable channels and use different GUI's. I believe the first company to offer CableCARD is Panasonic.
