My riser is the width of the theater and 6' deep. I'm trying to decide if I should build it so the steps (one on each side of the front row chairs) are built into the riser or extend past the 6' depth and go on the sides of the front row chairs.

I like the idea of having the steps built into the riser just in case I add a chair to the front row in the future.

What do you think - let me know.

How wide is your theater. I think its really a matter of taste but by insetting them like you said then you would still have the option of adding more seating. So I think you answered your own question

Mine are built in, and I like the way it looks.

Thanks Guys,

My theater is 12'6" wide and I'm planning on having two 30" wide steps (10" deep).

I was wondering if anyone has had issues with built in steps on their riser and people tripping while walking off of the riser due to the built in steps.
