Stick It! Made by the people that brought us
Bring it On, this isn't going to be the movie of the year or anything, but it is entertaining and does have some good moments. The Special Features were particularly enjoyable, including super slo-mo shots of professional gymnasts doing some amazing things. Lots of beautiful, athletic girls without the typical Hollywood "enhancements" in this film, which is very nice for a change.
The image of Missy Peregrym brings on recollections of Hillary Swank in
Million Dollar Baby. She's one buff chick. Jeff Bridges does a decent job, but leaves something on the table. Lots of smaller name talent abounds, but the real stars of the film are the actual gymnasts themselves, mostly featured in the Bonus Materials.
PQ: Very good. There are some interesting camera angles and images that will stay with you for some time. Fantastic use of color thoughout the film.
SQ: Excellent. Audible voices, great soundstage captures. While I'm not a fan of the hippity-hoppity rap style, the music is not overblown or a distraction. The music on the Bonus Materials is absolutely superb.
While the story won't dazzle you, it's a fun and interesting little film with great extras.
