The PG series of PJ's use this chip. Can anyone enlighten me on this chip? Do they go bad? Are they related to focus problems. Should they get hot? I have three of them, two on one card and one on another, the one by itself gets hotter than the two that are on one card. Is there a parts supplier that is on the internet where I can get a replacement chip?

On another thread a member described a problem with his 9PG, seems to be the same problem I'm having with my 10PG, he replaced this chip and fixed the problem.

Thanks, Deron.

They are the final output device that supplies current to the convergence and focus yoke coils. As a result, they need to dissipate a lot of heat, and unfortunately, IMO, since they actually use the chassis as a heat sink, the heat sinking is inadequate.

To help matters, you can replace the thermal gasket used with thermal grease and this should help get rid of some of the heat.

Additionally, since static convergence affects the entire tube, it requires the most current flow. As a result, I would recommend using the physical and magnetic means to center your crosshair pattern so that you use as little static convergence as possible. None is best!

Thanks,

Bob
