Electronics 2001 or 2000 carry Onkyo in the GTA. I can not remember which chain does. Call them. When I was in the store at 7 and 401 (Just by the Home Depot they had good deals on Onkyo/Paradigm combos
The store name you are looking for is HI Fi 2000. There is one at HWY 7/400. I was in my local Hi Fi 2000 on Sat. and they told me that with the new models coming in (798) that they will likely unload the remaining 797's very soon at great prices. My favourite sales person told me that often these deal get snapped up by the employee's. He guessed the 797 may get cleared out at @ $1000.
AAAAAA. The Onkyo 797 costs a freakin fortune!! Hi Fi is asking 1899.00 for it! They are asking $1499.00 for the 696 and its only 5.1! I can't understand that. The Marantz 6200 is $1000.00. I guess thats the way it is. The best price I've gotten for an Onkyo 797 is about 1700 I think. I was looking to spend MAYBE $1600.00 including tax. There's no way I'd spend $1499.00 plus tax or lets say 1299.00 + tax for a 696 with only 5.1. I'm stumped. This really sucks.
Sorry, my confusion with the Onkyo numbering system. You're correct, you will find that the 787 is being replaced with the 797. The 797 upgrades to DPL II and is priced at @$1900. My sales person said that they will try to "unload" their present inventory of 787's at a discounted price. Usually the mfg. offers them a rebate/incentive to sell them off rather than take back the older designs. He was guesstimating that the clearout when it happens will be in the $1000 range.. a great deal for a 787. He was unsure of the timing for the clear out though. If you want to have the DPL II then you're stuck with the 696 or 797 at higher prices.
