Had a nasty T-storm 2 days ago. knocked out a 32" visio LCD TV in my bedroom. It doesn't turn on now. I assume it's fried. Worth fixing? Original cost = $400.

The original cost is meaningless. It's replacement vs repair. Smaller sets are pretty much disposable.


Check craigslist or ebay and see what your model is worth in used condition. Good time to upgrade to 37"? Watch for Labor Day sales in a couple weeks.

If your Vizio is under warranty and money is tight, then see if it can be repaired and save up for a better tv. If your Vizio is out of warranty, they are almost impossible to repair so you've got a nice door stop. As was suggested, watch the Labor Day sales.
