Hello gents,

OK, let's start. I'm having this issue going on for couple of years and finally decided to post it here because I'm really out of clues. Over the years, this happened with different mobo, video, ram etc....

When the computer wakes-up from S3, strange things happening randomly, here they are:

- Windows sound service is stopped.

- The taskbar switched to a Windows 2000 style

- IR remote control partially working, VOLUME (volume slider not working) & BACK keys not working. Maybe some other keys are not working too.

- No access to internet but access to personal network.

My last system has been working flawlessly for the last six month and this happened all of a sudden.

The only common things across the systems I had with this problem are:

- Realtek sound Chipset

- XP Media Center 2005

- IR Remote.

Something I'm also suspecting is my power supply kind of low on the 5 volts VSB.

My system is well maintained, no software added to Media Center.

I could have listed all the hardware but I've changed so many parts over the years and the problem still persists, something else I don't master must go wrong.

I thank everyone.

OK,

Restored from January 1 and seems so far problems are gone.

I think February update broke it. If MS is blaming root kits, must be bull s***. I ran a full system scan with Kaspersky & Bitdefender and nothing was found. Interresting because I only have Media Center, Girder and MCE Stanby installed, nothing else, plain from stock CD!

Will post back with end results tomorrow.

this happened to me after a few months on win7. Not sure what happened but i suspect the video drivers.

i just reinstalled and imaged the new install after i set MCE all up and before i installed any programs, so if it happens again I'll just restore the image.

At least it will save me the channel setup.

Hi mike,

I my case I case I can exclude video drivers since I'm using the same since October 2009. Everything was running fine till recently

As I said, I restored from January and so far so good, I'm really suspecting crappy patchs from MS released this Feb.

I'll do some other test but again, so far so good.

Charles

i was running that same driver since november and my setup started crashing and not coming out of sleep, would hang changing channels after it woke up and it was hit or miss if the pc would rcord two shows at once after the pc woke up.

im not sure what happened but its similar to when i had the RC installed and it didn't like the video driver update.
