Here's the problem..

when i hit gui when watching something that's connected via component/composite INPUT the gui comes up on the tv perfectly.. I can still see what i'm watching in the background.. This is handy, especially if i'm trying to fix audio sync..

but when i try to use gui when i'm using the ps3 connected via HDMI then the screen goes blank and pops then my GUI comes up... I can't see what i was watching on the ps3..

Anyone know what i'm dealing with? is there a fix?

GUI Overlay over HDMI is actually an advanced feature. Your Sony doesn't have it and won't get it even with firmware updates. Usually, it requires some kind of video processor circuit.

Something like the Denon 890 offers it but the cheaper Denons don't
