Streaming Amazon with PS3

The PS3 does an okay job streaming Amazon video except for fast forwarding and reverse. I have no idea how to accomplish that. Controller buttons bring up the reverse forward play bar at the bottom of the screen, and I can highlight the reverse, play, pause, and forward buttons, but then I'm completely at a loss. Hitting X doesn't seem to do much of anything.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks for the response. So you highlight the forwards or backwards arrow and then hit X? Is there a progress bar to see how far you are advancing or rewinding? do you hold the X button down, or simply click on it?

Yes, you highlight (yellow) FF or Rewind and press X on the controller. You just click on it once. If you click on it a second time, the FF/rewind rate increases. If you click on it a third time, the rate increases greatly. There is a small window that opens up showing you the progress.

Yes, I got it. Thanks for your replies. Actually, it works pretty well if you're light on a touch.
